Trees & Landscapes
After The Burn #2 New life emerging
In 2017 the Kenow wildfire swept through Waterton Lakes National park and resulted in damage to 30% of the park. In 2020 some of the worst affected areas were finally opened to the public. What remained in places like Red Rock Canyon and the Akimina Parkway is a rather surreal landscape left with the sculptured-like remains of trees. I find it to be extremely dramatic and really quite beautiful to view.
Trois Abres - Cold Lake, Alberta
I visited Cold Lake Provincial Park for the first time in spring 2021. I was absolutely enamoured with the trees there. The range of different trees was like being an art exhibit where a bunch of artists had been abroad and designed anything that they wished. These three trees were only a selection of what was a stunning display. I hope I did them some justice

Autumn in the Mountains
Yes I cannot hide it. I'm an ex-pat Brit and as much as I try, I still change Fall to Autumn. On a trip to Waterton on a relatively breeze free day, my husband took a lovely photo capturing the mountains reflected in the still surface of a lake. The contrast between the cool mountains and the glowing grasses was just too tempting and I had to try to catch the intensity of the colours.
